String guide

Understand your strings & tension

A quick guide to the string types and tension choices we work with every day — and how each affects the way your racket plays.

String types

Choosing your string

Each string type brings a different feel. Here's how they compare.

Polyester

The dependable workhorse. Consistent feel, great durability and a soft, comfortable play — an excellent all-round choice.

Best for: Players who want a reliable, low-maintenance string.

Synthetic Gut

Playability close to natural gut with modern durability. High cost-performance, crisp response and good power.

Best for: Competitive players wanting performance without the upkeep of natural gut.

Natural Gut

The premium, traditional choice. Superb touch and feel, excellent repulsion rate — but it's less durable and weather-sensitive.

Best for: Elite players chasing maximum feel and performance.

Multifilament

Built from thousands of microfibres for a soft, vibration-damping response and forgiving flexibility.

Best for: Comfort-focused players and those wanting a softer bed.

Tension

Tension & play style

Tension is the personality of your racket. The same string can feel completely different at different tensions — the right setup depends on how you play.

  • Lower tension

A softer, more forgiving string bed. Good for control, comfort and players who prefer a flexier response.

  • Standard tension

The balanced, most-played setup. Solid all-round feel that most players enjoy out of the box.

  • Higher tension

A firmer, more powerful response with crisp feedback. Favoured by aggressive players chasing power and speed.
